Workshop Information

Are you ready to capture the beauty of the Milky Way in all its glory? Our night photography workshop is aimed towards beginner and intermediate skill levels. We will provide you with a tip sheet before the workshop. During the workshop, experienced photographers will help you with the settings and verify that your photographs are perfectly in focus. We also make sure your compositions are on point. After the workshop, we will discuss post-processing during a Zoom meeting.

We will meet in Fairplay, Colorado on Saturday August 03 2024 at 5:30PM MST. From there we will drive you to our photography location. We will take sunset photos with beautiful Bristlecone Pines in the foreground. Afterwards, we will discuss night photography and wait for the Milky Way to be visible. Once the Milky Way is in position, we will be able to capture it above the ancient trees. We will have several hours to photograph the core of the Milky Way. The galactic core is setting around 2:20AM.

Fitness Level

We will be parking close to the location where we will be photographing the Milky Way. We will have to walk a few hundred feet on level terrain at a very high altitude but there is no strenuous hiking.

Zoom Class

This workshop includes a Zoom class on Sunday August 04 at 3PM MST. During the class, we will go over some post-processing ideas and examples. We will also answer any questions you might have. The class will be about two hours long. There will also be a recording of the Zoom class in case you are not able to make it.
